Our Story
Our Story
In March 2023, our founder went to an IDP settlement to follow up with a community she had visited the previous year in an empowerment project organized by a group. She arrived at the camp expecting to hear stories about how the empowerment project had achieved remarkable success in strengthening their capacities, however, to her surprise, she realized that the intervention only created another cycle of hope that sunk to despair. This led her thinking about other similar experiences she had witnessed in other IDP settlements and camps where IDPs felt constantly trapped in protracted situations of internal displacement, demonstrating a disconnect and consistent disparity between the funding for IDP protection at various governance levels and the situation of those internally displaced.
While at Harvard University, that same year, our founder decided to learn more about how to practically improve action for the protection of this population. An interesting situation that left an imprint in her mind was a simulation on climbing Mount Everest at the Harvard Kennedy School. This situation made her realize that it was not enough to speak about solutions but to act it out together with those that were involved, particularly internally displaced persons.
She started out to develop action guided by the philosophy that it is possible to end internal displacement, creating people-centered solutions.

Our Vision

Supporting states in the implementation of internal displacement laws and policies.
Collaborating with stakeholders for sustained action on internal displacement.
Co-creating durable solutions with Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
Building knowledge & research to provide evidence-based interventions for internally displaced persons (IDPs).
Our Values

01
Internally Displaced Persons are at the centre of our focus. We do not just seek to create solutions for IDPs, but we seek to co-create with IDPs.
Our actions are driven by knowledge, research and data that is accurate and impactful. As we seek to build durable solutions, our information builds on evidence that can be trusted in taking initiatives. We continually thrive to improve our knowledge, understanding that root causes are evolving, the demography is changing, and the institutional landscape is also emerging.
We seek collaborations that do not create competition but rather provide effective solutions for internally displaced persons. We are committed to building action together with stakeholders at various governance levels that ensure that the population on internally displaced persons in Africa is reduced.
Whether through research, advocacy or law and policy, we are driven by the passion to create results that are lasting and achieve satisfaction for internally displaced persons (IDPs). We believe that it is through concrete result-oriented focus values that we can end internal displacement and ensure that IDPs are not continually in protracted situations.
We work to provide protection for all internally displaced persons and are guided by the imperative for equal treatment of all persons. We believe that every IDP is a human being. And we are guided by the fact that all humans have intrinsic dignity and rights that must be protected.
06
We are committed to ensuring transparency, integrity and honesty in our communications, actions and interventions. We seek to ensure that everyone is heard and included.
